Domain Registration Management

Chris Tata, 05-31-2007
Once you host your domain name with us, it will show up under your account and you can manage every aspect of your domain online.

First, log into your account and find the "Domain Registration" box. It should look like this:

Once you click on the domain name you wish to modify you will be presented with 3 options - Domain Settings, Email Settings, and Contact settings.

1. When someone types "http://mydomain.com" in a browser

You have 3 options here.
a) Just show parked-page message - this will deactivate your hosting, and show a "Domain is Parked" page.
b) Redirect users to a different website - also known as "URL Forwarding". You can enter any website address, and when visitors go to your website they will be directed there instead.
c) I created a website for this domain - this is where you can enter an IP address if you choose to host elsewhere. This automatically modifies the DNS records, and your changes should be instant (no propigation time).

2. When someone sends an email to @mydomain.com

a) Just ignore all email - this will disable any email hosting for this domain name.
b) Forward all email to this Email address - anything@yourdomain.com will be sent to this address
c) Enter the IP address of your mail server - here you can define an MX server of your choice. If you are hosting your email with SoftwareProjects, this should be set to "mx1.softwareprojects.com".

3. When someone checks the "Whois" ownership information of my domain -

Always make sure your information is updated here before hitting submit. This information is used to identify that your domain name is actually owned by you. If you prefer to use the Privacy option, users who attempt to view your domain contact information will see SoftwareProjects contact information instead. Any inquiries related to your domain, will be automatically forwarded to you.
