Increase Your Traffic by Gaining Google's TrustTyler Banfield, 06-04-2007 |
If you build a quality relationship with Google, they can reward you by sending large amounts of traffic. However, just like any relationship, earning the trust of Google requires a significant amount of dedication, time and work. Here are three commonly overlooked tips that can help you start gaining more of Google's trust today:

Be Consistent: The importance of this point cannot be emphasized enough. As the cartoon above illustrates, although ethical SEO practices are acceptable and absolutely necessary for a web site to be successful, the more subtle that you can be with your search engine optimization efforts, the better they will be received by Google. Consistency is one of the best ways to ensure that your SEO efforts look natural. Whether it is gathering links or adding content, Google appreciates when you keep things on a regular schedule. (Keep in mind, it is absolutely ok to gain a large amount of links in a short period of time when an event such as a large Digg occurs, but if you suddenly gain hundreds of links for no apparent reason, Google's filters will definitely take notice).
Use a Privacy Policy: Creating a privacy policy specifically for your web site will have the following three benefits:
-Increase the amount of visitors that you convert to sales (because they will be more likely to trust in your web site).
-Gain additional trust from Google, which will eventually result in increased SERPs and traffic.
-If you are running an AdWords campaign, having a privacy policy can help your quality score, which in turn can help keep your campaign costs as low as possible.
Don't Hide: Not only will a lack of contact information reduce the amount of trust Google can put into your web site, but it will cause a lot of frustration among your visitors. I can't count the number of times that I have been unable to find any contact information on blogs and web sites.
At the very least, you should always include an easy to find, valid email address on your web site. However, it is even better if you can include a contact name, phone number and address as well. Like many elements in the online world, providing contact information will please visitors and search engines at the same time.
